Many of us have found a version that leaves us feeling smooth and silky and has left the days of  bumpy redness and cuts on the ankle or neck far behind.  Now we are moving on to the next generation of razors, even the big well known high street brands are making big moves to reduce plastic and provide a more sustainable option.

We’ve checked out some of the options out there to help guide you to make a more sustainable choice in how you get that fuzz free feeling. 

Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive RoseGold Razor

We started with the familiar,  the Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive RoseGold Razor while the blade still has the plastic surrounding the handle is metal and can be used with any blade from the Venus range. A good firm weight and all the familiarity that comes from a venus razor but with the knowledge that you are using less plastic and getting something that with a little care will last at least twice as long as the plastic version.

Wilkinson Sword – Xtreme 3 Eco Green

Another top highstreet brand, Wilkinson Sword are trying to give a nod to the sustainable with their Eco-Green version. More of a lightweight option and a good contender to take on holiday, they are making their handles from 95% recycled plastic, and the packaging from 90% recycled paper. They are disposable so won’t give you the long term sustainability you might be looking for but as a step in the right direction they are moving the right way.

Jungle Culcure Eco-friendly safety razor

This plastic free safety razor, made from chrome is suitable for both men and women and gives a smooth shave whilst being kind to our planet. With a choice of colours, vegan friendly and zero waste it’s a great sustainable gift.

Available in store and online, Bulldog bamboo razors are available for a reasonable price. Longer-lasting, effective and environmentally friendly.

Razors on subscription

Following the trend of postal service eco subscriptions there is a seemingly endless amount of razor options on the market. You can go for the trendy version, the sleek and stylish or the simple and functional. Your hair removal routine is personal but there will certainly be a sustainable version for you. We have tried a couple to inspire you and see what’s on offer.

Estrid

We like the Estrid, affordable and simple with a varied blade subscription option so you don’t end up with a backlog of blades in the winter months, also known as the hairy legs keep you warm months. A thin metal handle that feels solid in your hand, with a blade that is surrounded by a vegan moisturiser to leave you feeling smooth and silky.

Lane 44

For a totally no plastic option that is designed to last you year after year you can try Lane 44. No plastic in sight and a stylish look to go with it, rose gold, chrome or silver and the option of a funky stand to stop it getting rusty in the shower. Nuddy

One of the leading plastic reducing brands for the bathroom is Nuddy and as part of their range they have a zero plastic razor. All pink and pretty, it offers a super close shave and doesn’t compromise on results. The brass safety razor should leave you without any nicks or cuts, just simply smooth skin.

An estimated 2 billion razors end up in landfill every year, all the brands that are going for a reduced plastic and zero plastic approach are doing their bit towards helping keep this number down. Anything we can do to support the cause and make our bathroom beauty routine more sustainable seems like a good move.
