30 May World Environment Day – 5th June – 10 quick and easy switches to tick off in one day
As we lead up to World Environment Day 2022, we wanted to get you thinking about how you could make a difference. In just one day you could make 10 simple changes to your daily routine, with these quick and easy ideas to be more sustainable, and all without even leaving your home (except for a little walk!). We all love those Sundays at home pottering in the house and garden after a nice long bank holiday weekend, this Sunday you why not tick off your pottering jobs and help the planet too? Here is a simple and easy tick list of ideas:
- Have a meat free Sunday lunch, reducing your meat consumption by just one meal a week can make a big difference to our planet.
- Take a walk and go for a litter pick, this will not only help clean up your local area but will help your physical and mental health too.
- Doing a washload or two? Wash at 30 degrees and dry your clothes naturally.
- Have a day without the heating on or lower your thermostat by just 1 degree.
- Make a sign for your fridge or near light switches to remind the family to “Turn lights off”.
- Do a meal plan for the week ahead to reduce wastage.
- Take a shower and time it to just 3-minutes.
- Check for leaking taps and toilets.
- Draught proof your doors and windows.
- Create a bug hut in your garden from materials such as sticks and leaves.
